Hello Everyone,

I have been building a new website since this past winter.
I can't tell you how much time it takes to flesh out a website from scratch,
but as much as I'll miss my slide show on the old website (which by the way is still up and running),
this new website will provide me with easier updating and better services.

It's certainly been a while since I last contacted you,
and I thought I'd take some time now to share what has been happening lately.

My 5th Solo Exhibition at the Sharon Weiss Gallery, in Columbus featured 35 plein air and studio paintings from England, India, and Ohio. The exhibit opened on August 6 was well received, and the exhibition was reviewed in the Columbus Dispatch. You can view several of the works from this exhibition in a collection on the new website.

Pictured below is my 10" x 8" oil painting entitled "Hughes Henhouse #5" which has been accepted into the
National Juried American Impressionist Society Exhibition, this year to be held at Richland Fine Art, Nashville, TN.
All works in this exhibition are for sale, and the show will feature works from some of America's top artists.
If you're in the area and would like to attend, the opening reception is October 7, 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
Exhibition dates: Oct. 7 - Nov. 3, 2010.

Also, my 28" x 22" oil, "The Monks' Alarm Clock"
has been accepted into the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Exhibition.
All paintings are for sale. The exhibition is being held at Walls Fine Art Gallery in Wilmington, NC.
Exhibition dates: Oct. 15 - Nov. 13, 2010. Opening reception: Oct. 15, 6:00 - 10:00 PM.

Below is a work that took 2nd Place at the Lake Waynoka Paintout, Auction and Sale.
The 10" x 12" oil is entitled "The Old Bachman Place" and is a landmark along Rt. 62.
I had a blast painting in Brown Co., OH at the end of July, before and during the event,
with artists and friends Ray Hassard and Larry Rudolech
You can view two other paintings from this paintout
on my website in my "recent works" portfolio.

And last, but not least,
I took part in The White's Mill Challenge sponsored by Athens Real Estate Company, in Athens, OH.
It started out a gorgeous, but chilly morning, and by the time this photo was taken, it had clouded over.
A woman with a video camera came by and shot video of several painters, and I wound up on YouTube.
Below is the photo that appeared in the Athens Messenger,
and here is the link to the YouTube Video of me working on the award winning painting.
There are two fellow painters in this video, and in case you don't recognize me, I'm up first.
Just beware, you too, might wind up on YouTube!

White's Mill serves as subject for outdoor painting contest

Debra Joyce Dawson of Pataskala paints White’s Mill in Athens on Saturday afternoon. She is one of the founding members of the Ohio Plein Air Society, which was holding a White’s Mill painting competition.
